چکیده

We present an algorithm for underwater robots to visually detect and track human motion. Our objective is to enable human-robot interaction by allowing a robot to follow behind a human moving in (up to) six degrees of freedom. In particular, we have developed a system to allow a robot to detect, track and follow a scuba diver by using frequencydomain detection of biological motion patterns. The motion of biological entities is characterized by combinations of periodic motions which are inherently distinctive. This is especially true of human swimmers. By using the frequency-space response of spatial signals over a number of video frames, we attempt to identify signatures pertaining to biological motion. This technique is applied to track scuba divers in underwater domains, typically with the robot swimming behind the diver. The algorithm is able to detect a range of motions, which includes motion directly away from or towards the camera. The motion of the diver relative to the vehicle is then tracked using an Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF), an approach for non-linear estimation. The efficiency of our approach makes it attractive for real-time applications onboard our underwater vehicle, and in future applications we intend to track scuba divers in real-time with the robot. The paper presents an algorithmic overview of our approach, together with experimental evaluation based on underwater video footage. Fig. 1. An Experimental Study on Blinking and Eye Movement Detection via EEG Signals for Human-Robot Interaction Purposes Based on a Spherical 2-DOF Parallel Robot

Blinking and eye movement are one of the most important abilities that most people have, even people with spinal cord problem. By using this ability these people could handle some of their activities such as moving their wheelchair without the help of others. One of the most important fields in Human-Robot Interaction is the development of artificial limbs working with brain signals. The purpos...

Kinematic and Dynamic Analysis of Tripteron, an Over-constrained 3-DOF Translational Parallel Manipulator, Through Newton-Euler Approach

In this research, as the main contribution, a comprehensive study is carried out on the mathematical modeling and analysis of the inverse kinematics and dynamics of an over-constraint three translational degree-of-freedom parallel manipulator. Due to the inconsistency between the number of equations and unknowns, the problem of obtaining the constraint forces and torques of an over-constraint m...

Identification of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Dynamic Using Extended Kalman Filter with ARMA Noise Model

In the procedure of designing an underwater vehicle or robot, its maneuverability and controllability must be simulated and tested, before the product is finalized for manufacturing. Since the hydrodynamic forces and moments highly affect the dynamic and maneuverability of the system, they must be estimated with a reasonable accuracy. In this study, hydrodynamic coefficients of an autonomous un...

Analysis and Synthesis of Effective Human-Robot Interaction at Varying Levels in Control Hierarchy

Robot controller design is usually hierarchical with both high-level task and motion planning and low-level control law design. In the presented works, we investigate methods for low-level and high-level control designs to guarantee joint performance of human-robot interaction (HRI). In the first work, a low-level method using the switched linear quadratic regulator (SLQR), an optimal control p...
